2014 “Fall Colors” Update
ATVAM Fall Ride & Rally -- A little rain (okay a lot of rain) didn’t stop the Woodticks from having a good time up in Roseau. Club
members rode the Bemis Hill trail system, toured the Polaris factory, attended the ATVAM annual banquet and got some good bargains on riding gear at the auction. Next year it’s in Hill City.
We’ll be there!
Hackensack Chainsaw Event -- Wow! Who knew our trailer would be such a big draw! We talked with hundreds of people, many who are new to
the area. As always, the No. 1 question we get is “Where can I ride?” Everyone wanted the new DNR OHV Trail Atlas...we ran out! We answered a wide variety of questions on OHV riding in
northern MN, geared up kids who wanted to sit on our Polaris 90 ATV and Honda 50 dirt bike (purchased this year with a Polaris grant), and signed up a dozen new members! Mike Ebinger and
Dave Halsey were there Friday and Saturday, and thanks to Scott and Theresa Meyers for helping out during the Saturday afternoon rush. A big thanks to Dick Buche for securing a great location for
our trailer, and hauling it to and from the event.
Fall Club Ride & Poker Run, Saturday, October 4th -- Join us on a fun and colorful fall ride through the Chippewa National
Forest. Meet at the Bursch cabin (same location as our meetings) at 10 a.m. We’ll ride as a group, enjoying the fall colors on this easy 12 mile ride, and stopping along the way to deal cards to
everyone and play a hand of poker, with prizes for best and worst hand. We’ll ride up to Huddle’s Resort for lunch. Those who are interested and able are invited to help us do our fall
Adopt-A-Highway cleanup along State 200. We’ll send four groups of 2-3 out from Huddles on either side of the highway with yellow trash bags and neon vests. It takes about a half hour -- and the
club will buy your lunch! Then we’ll make the return trip on our ATVs in one or two groups, depending on how many riders we have. Directions from Hackensack to Bursch cabin: East on Cty 5 for 2
miles, then north on Cty 122 for 3 miles, road turns west (Stony Drive), go another 1.5 miles to Y, take a right, then a left on Stony Loop.
A Big Thanks To Our 30 Business Members! -- The club really appreciates your support. We promote your businesses at all meetings,
rides and events. We want to do more to thank you, so we will be stopping by to purchase gift cards or gift certificates that we’ll use for drawings, door prizes and poker runs. Our newest
Business Member is the Big Dipper in Hackensack! We welcome your ideas on how we can promote your businesses to our 400+ club members.
ATV Youth Safety Class -- Saturday, October 11th, 9 a.m., at the Walker Area Community Center. For ages 11-15 to get their DNR ATV Safety
Certificate to ride on public lands. Kids need to do DNR CD at-home study prior to class. CDs available at Birch Lake Small Engine, Sheriff’s Dept, Walker Power and One Stop in Longville. To get
details and pre-register, call Lloyd Solarz at 218-682-3775. Adults are also encouraged to attend, who want to learn more about safe riding techniques.
Play Pickleball! -- Board member Sue Buche has started a pickleball club in Hackensack. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Hackensack Community
