We are sad to report that Roy Huddle has passed away.
Twice a year, our club does a ride from Stony Lake to Huddle’s
Resort on Leech Lake. We are always warmly greeted by Roy and Kay Huddle,
and their family. Roy passed away this week at the age of 78. Huddles
is one of the oldest family-run resorts in Minnesota, started by
Roy’s grandparents in 1928. Huddle’s is a long-time business sponsor of
our club. Please keep the Huddle family in your
prayers. You can read Roy’s obituary at this link:

Two websites for snowbirds and travelers:
Some of our members head south for the winter, and bring their
ATVs and SxSs with them. Others trailer their vehicles on winter
vacations, going to Glamis in California, and other popular riding
areas. Here are a couple websites to help you find places to ride this
winter:
1 - RiderPlanet.com -- This ATV and motorcycle trails database is
very detailed, with photos and contact information to plan a ride
anywhere in the country. Just click on the state you are going to, and
you’ll see a long list of public trails and private ATV parks.
2 - RideCommand.Polaris.com -- This program (formerly called RiderX,and which Woodticks Halsey and Potter work on at Polaris), is nowbetter than ever. Go to the website, zoom into an area and you’ll see all the public trails and private ATV parks. You can plan OHV and snowmobile rides across the U.S. and Canada, and more.
Download the free Ride Command mobile app on your smart phone
or tablet, and use it while riding. You can track your rides, find
your exact GPS location on OHV or snowmobile trails across the
country, form a group with other riders and see where they are on the
trail, plus find food, fuel, lodging and the nearest Polaris
dealer..and more.
In the Hackensack-Akeley-Longville area, you’ll see brown
icons highlighting 10 of our club’s business sponsors that bought a
Premium Point-Of-Interest from our club. It was part of a pilot project
at Polaris that’s now going nationwide, giving OHV and snowmobile clubs
a new tool for fundraising.

Check out this scenic video made by GoPro about a
father/son
trail-building team in Oregon. The GoPro staff spent some time with Reid Brown and his dad Barrett,
two outstanding OHV advocates in Oregon. Check out this short video
to watch this father/son team as they ride and race dirt bikes, and
build single-track trails on the steep slopes of the Tillamook Forest.
Their expertise and enthusiasm is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?
